Sorry for the sappy title but ...
Here's the deal:
I'm giving at least 480,000,000 points to anyone who:
a. is a minor / living at home with parent or guardian,
b. helps out this three-day weekend *without being asked* and *without it being a way to kiss up / make amends or whatever*.
and of course c. PM me with what you did / how you did it.
Judgment is mine to make, but it's not a creative writing thing or anything, just say what you did, how you did and how it helped out if it's not immediately obvious.
I thought of this cause sometimes we see lots of people saying how bored they are on here: well here's somethin' to do that'll be useful.
And another Zoner has seriously contributed to the pot for this. Any adult who wants to up the ante by adding to the pot can do so also.
So kiddies let's see what you come up with, and here's to hoping you all play fair as obviously I couldn't (and wouldn't) check. But, bear in mind, I have a teenager at home so I think I'm a pretty decent judge of what's gonna be real or not.
Good luck to those who wanta play.

Ah c'mon now all ye young lmfao-textin' fools, do something decent for your folks now without being asked, tell us all about it and you'll get some points. Have we no takers?

Post 3 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Saturday, 04-Sep-2010 21:25:53

I should say if you're at a boarding school that would obviously count, should have considered the nature of the audience: do something for the guardians there then, and write about it.

I have so few points to begin with

although I am willing to place 200,000 points into this endeavor.

Interesting we get adult and no kiddie responses. I say sit on the points till weekend is over and let's see if we even get takers. C'mon kids you can do it now! It won't kill ya we promise!

Post 6 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Sunday, 05-Sep-2010 22:57:06

I'll add 9000000 points to the pot. They shall now be transferred to your account.

Post 7 by CrazyMusician (If I don't post to your topic, it's cuz I don't give a rip about it!) on Sunday, 05-Sep-2010 23:04:31

Hahaha I'm sorry, Leo... but NO takers? WOW!

Post 8 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Sunday, 05-Sep-2010 23:04:53

Well, crap. I forgot about the 20$ tax. I'll make up for it.

Post 9 by Miss M (move over school!) on Sunday, 05-Sep-2010 23:18:19

You guys are forgetting that most of the younger zoners don't frequent the boards.

Post 10 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 0:45:11

I've put this in Quicknotes before but I will again. This looks like it's gonna have to stretch beyong the weekend as we have Grace, SugarBaby and I who have all contributed. The pot has grown exponentially now, let's see what these sports can do!

Post 11 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 0:46:14

Sorry. I meant 20% tax, and there you go, I just sent the last 16 million of my points. of course, count the 20% tax will give you, I think 128000000 points. But now you have over 500 million points to give away.

Miss Em, I've seen plenty of younger zoners on the boards.

Post 12 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 1:13:56

What I hope we get is someone to give 'em away to, now.

Post 13 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 1:17:43

That would be nice. I'll keep sending if you want. Maybe someone would be more likely to act if the pot was, say, a billion points.

Post 14 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 10:20:06

hahaha. good luck guys, but I see this going nowhere. sorry to be a spoiler in this, but...

Post 15 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 13:52:08

I'd tend to agree here with Fighter, to the point that I feel a bit remorseful of getting other people involved in putting points in the pot when we have no takers. I'll just sit on 'em till we get some young teenager to come along and do it / earn the points. Perfect opportunity for one of 'em to prove us all wrong and step it up.

Post 16 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 14:14:11

Yeah. I agree with that.

Post 17 by Grace (I've now got the ggold prolific poster award! wahoo! well done to me!) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 14:33:37

Leo,

Maybe you can assist?
On that Board of Mine,
WHERE MUSIC LIVES
Regarding the points, I am having difficulty
awarding some and unable to get that feature to work
Are points only to be given in say, a block of all to one??

or

can I break them up and give them as I have posted?

btw~ You earned some on that Board!! :)

...and what?!?! Can us Oldsters not earn that pot of points!!!
I am doing Autumnal housecleaning
That should count for something!!

Post 18 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 19:19:39

I had thought about breaking it all up, but we have had no responses. I'm inclined to give 'em to you if you want 'em as nobody, not even one teenager, has responded via quicknotes or on the boards.

Post 19 by Grace (I've now got the ggold prolific poster award! wahoo! well done to me!) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 19:51:33

I do like to tease...:)

...except if you wanna give the points to me,
well. o.k.
only thing is I would want to be able to break them up
and use them like how I Posted and don't know now if it can
be done that way. :(

Best for you to keep your points at this time
till all this gets understood. *Smiles

Thanks Anyhow!

Post 20 by AgateRain (Believe it or not, everything on me and about me is real!) on Monday, 06-Sep-2010 22:39:46

Okay, Robo send all the points to me, by then I should have a trillion. All I did was sit around the house and my house is squeaky clean so there was nothing to do. Now, that works?

Post 21 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Tuesday, 07-Sep-2010 0:20:42

To Grace what you do with the points once I send them is your affair. I never give with strings attached.
To the last post, the idea was for you to benefit your folks or guardian somehow without having to be asked: to of your own initiative take an opportunity to help them out.
I am finding this whole thing rather depressing now, and I'm generally one to be optimistic about teenagers: I'm not exactly one of those parents who grumbles about their teens. In fact, those are years of great opportunity, but as I said I'm gravely disappointed.

Post 22 by Grace (I've now got the ggold prolific poster award! wahoo! well done to me!) on Tuesday, 07-Sep-2010 5:32:56

Well, FINALLY I got the Point Transfer to work.
I was using a comma where was NOT to.
Like instad of 300000 I was putting in place 300,000

Leo,
It's up to you if you choose to send the points over to me
and again they would be used more than likely as awards
in musical &/or other type games around here.
Maybe a game for the Holidays?
Connie {Grace}

Post 23 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Tuesday, 07-Sep-2010 10:32:18

Points have been sent. What you got was 400444800 points because of the tax.
"What's done is done"

Post 24 by Grace (I've now got the ggold prolific poster award! wahoo! well done to me!) on Tuesday, 07-Sep-2010 17:44:57

...and now in some respects a New Beginning with these points
to have them rolled over to others in various endeavors that
present themselves here whether in games or perhaps some cause of worth
presenting itself with the points lending support as it were.

And the Autumnal House cleaning continues :)
Who says a mom's/homemakers work goes un-noticed

Wow! Thanks Leo...

Think receiving these points even caused me to loose a few years,
feeling like a teenager again *Smiles

Post 25 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Tuesday, 07-Sep-2010 22:38:55

A homemaker's work is never unnoticed: my wife made that sacrifice when our daughter was growing up, and is now getting into a new career.

Post 26 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Wednesday, 08-Sep-2010 8:45:27

Like I've mentioned in various teen topics and daily living topics, I have absolutely no problem doing anybody around the house any favors with cleaning and chores, as long as I know my help is appreciated. That's all I ask.

Post 27 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Wednesday, 08-Sep-2010 14:11:08

Wish I had known about this earlier, I would have thrown a nice chunk of change in to the points pile. a billion or so. Ah well. Hmm. I'm wondering if maybe we could design other contests this way. I'll have to think about it.

Post 28 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Wednesday, 08-Sep-2010 15:37:32

I think it's a good idea if it becomes more publicized. People might actually know about it. Lol.
I have an idea. How about a random acts of kindness sort of deal. If someone does something nice for someone they don't know, they could receive a billion points. Of course, there would have to be a way for people not to know about this, otherwise people would just do things to get points. Or say....maybe, if someone buys a premium membership for a random person, they could get a large amount of points. Something that requires an act in the goodness of people.

Post 29 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Wednesday, 08-Sep-2010 15:39:05

And, Leo, I like your idea very much, although I don't think it should necessarily be restricted to teens. Adults may be expected to help more than teens, but not everybody does all the time. I'm sure we're all guilty of not helping when we could have, at least once in our adult lives.

Post 30 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Wednesday, 08-Sep-2010 16:16:23

true and maybe I'm biased but we as adults are the working stiffs, and isn't it the teens typically saying how bored they are? But yeah there are better ways to do it for sure, I just sorta thought of it with the 3-day weekend.

Post 31 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Thursday, 09-Sep-2010 9:15:41

I know teens who go to school every day, make straight A's, help out and volunteer around the school, play in a band, play on a sports team or two, and somehow maintain a part time job too to help out with bills around the house. I also know adults who sit on their lazy asses all day and do nothing. Don't get me wrong. I think it's good to encourage teens to get out there and do things they're not expected to do.
